In the midst of South Africa’s wonderful nature, a luxurious 5-star accommodation awaits you that leaves nothing to be desired and promises an unforgettable stay.

Day 2 | Kapama Game Reserve

In an open safari vehicle you experience game drives and bush walks with experienced rangers at various times of day. Besides the famous “Big 5” – lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo – you will have the opportunity to observe many other wild animals and learn a great deal about these inhabitants of the bush.

We would gladly arrange further activities for your stay at the luxurious Kapama River Lodge, such as a hot-air balloon flight, a visit to the Endangered Species Centre, which is dedicated to the protection and breeding of endangered wildlife, spa treatments at the Kapama Spa or even a romantic and unforgettable “sleep-out” in the middle of the bush under the open sky.

Day 3 | Panorama Route

This morning you are picked up for your guided tour along the Panorama Route. Your tour guide accompanies you.

Day 4 | Flight from Hoedspruit to Cape Town

If the departure time allows, you take part in one last game drive at Kapama to say goodbye to the wild animals. Afterwards a driver from Kapama Reserve takes you to the airport in Hoedspruit.

You fly to Cape Town. You are taken to your accommodation, centrally located in Cape Town at the foot of Table Mountain.

Days 5 & 6 | Two days at your own disposal in Cape Town

Day 7 | Table Mountain & city tour

We pick you up from your accommodation and start the Cape Town city tour with you. First we take the cable car up Table Mountain. From the 1,086 m high mountain there is a fantastic view of Cape Town and the Cape Peninsula.

Then it’s on to the alternative district of Woodstock. In the former working-class and industrial area, artists have set up their studios, and designers, cabinet-makers and decorators also create their unique pieces there.

Next we drive through many small streets to the historic District Six. Around 1966 the government declared this district a “white zone”, allegedly because too much crime emanated from the neighbourhood, and in 1968 ordered the forced removal of its Black and Coloured residents. The district was completely cleared and the houses demolished. You will be surprised how it has changed.

Via the government district we continue to Bo-Kaap. In the former residential quarter of slaves from Malaysia and Java, the noisy, cheerful, cosmopolitan heart of Cape Town beats. Here the houses glow in the brightest colours.

Now our city tour leads through Tamboerskloof with its typically Victorian architecture to your accommodation or to the Waterfront. Perhaps you will spend the late afternoon/evening at the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, a part of Cape Town’s harbour that has been transformed into an extensive entertainment and shopping district with numerous restaurants, bars, live-music venues and attractive shops.

It is then a good idea to take a catamaran boat trip, but in any case to end the evening in one of the great restaurants on the Waterfront.

Day 8 | Cape Peninsula tour

The drive first leads through the Constantia wine valley. On request we stop for a wine tasting at Groot Constantia. Avenues of gnarled oaks lead to magnificent manor houses in the Cape Dutch style. The wines grown here are so good that Napoleon had Constantia Muscadel delivered to his exile on St Helena.

Our next stop on our drive around the Cape Peninsula is Muizenberg. In this place, known among surfers, we take photos in front of the famous colourful wooden beach huts on the beach.

We continue through St James with its insider shops, galleries and junk shops to the harbours of Simon’s Town and Kalk Bay. We watch the colourful bustle of the fishermen and fishwives. We visit the penguins at Boulders Beach.

Our route leads around the Cape Peninsula to the “Cape of Good Hope”. Here you can walk from the lighthouse to Cape Point. You will enjoy a particularly beautiful view of the unique nature here.

The way back leads via Misty Cliffs, Kommetjie and Noordhoek onto the famous Chapman’s Peak Drive, one of the most beautiful coastal roads in the world. From there it continues via Hout Bay to Camps Bay, where we linger briefly by the sea before taking you back to your accommodation.

Day 9 | Cape Town – Robertson/Montagu – today our 9-day tour begins

From Cape Town our route leads us through the Winelands, past Paarl, over the magnificent Du Toitskloof Pass into the Robertson Wine Valley. Here we first visit the Viljoensdrift wine estate and, on request, take a picnic boat trip on the Breede River.

Then we stop at the well-known Graham Beck wine estate and treat ourselves to a champagne/MCC tasting from the renowned MCC producer. Afterwards, if time allows, we visit another wine estate in this area. After that there is an opportunity to browse a wine boutique and possibly buy wine to take “home”.

Either we stay in Robertson and spend the night in a first-class 5* hotel, where we also stay for dinner in the famous “Reubens” gourmet restaurant in the hotel.

Or we drive on a little further over the Cogmanskloof into the idyllic Montagu – a small town with numerous well-kept Cape Dutch and Victorian buildings. Many artists and craftspeople have chosen Montagu as their home and contribute to the special atmosphere of the town. In the evening we eat in a typical restaurant of this area.

Overnight stay in a 4* guesthouse in Montagu

Day 10 | Robertson/Montagu – Prince Albert

Depending on your choice of accommodation, today we drive from Robertson over the Cogmanskloof Pass first to the idyllic Montagu. Or we start directly from Montagu, because the beautiful route to Oudtshoorn begins here.

The route follows Route 62 with its breathtaking landscapes and great mountain passes via Ladismith to Oudtshoorn, the centre of the ostrich industry.

Beyond Oudtshoorn we cross the Meiringspoort Pass. This pass connects the Little Karoo with the Great Karoo. After crossing the pass we reach the little Victorian village of Prince Albert. In the evening we eat in a typical Karoo restaurant.

Overnight stay in a 4* lodge in Prince Albert

Day 11 | Prince Albert – Knysna

After breakfast we drive back towards Oudtshoorn, this time over the unique Swartberg Pass. This 27-kilometre-long unpaved mountain road reaches a height of 1,583 metres. At the summit we take time for the unique view.

Just before Oudtshoorn, on request, the Cango Caves can be visited, one of the largest dripstone caves in the world.

We continue over great mountain passes and Wilderness to Knysna. Wilderness is known for its eight-kilometre-long white sandy beach and its many lagoons. The Touws River flows right through Wilderness and, together with several other waters, forms a lagoon between the dunes. We enjoy a stroll on the dreamlike beach.

We let the day end at the little Knysna Waterfront and try the freshly caught oysters here.

Overnight stay in a 4* accommodation in Knysna on Leisure Isle

Day 12 | Knysna

A day in the lagoon town of Knysna. Today we experience the most beautiful beach on the Garden Route at Brenton on Sea. The afternoon is free.

Before dinner we drive up to the “Knysna Heads” and enjoy the sunset and the view over the lagoon and coast. In the evening we eat in one of the excellent restaurants in Knysna.

Day 13 | Knysna – Addo

Today we travel via Plettenberg Bay with its lovely swimming beaches towards Addo Elephant Park. For the very brave there is an opportunity for a bungee jump on the way. But even just watching is fun.

In the afternoon we reach our accommodation, right at the southern entrance of Addo Park. Weather permitting, at sunset we take a boat trip on the Sundays River, along the longest sand dunes in the world.

Overnight stay in a 4* lodge at Addo Elephant Park

Day 14 | Addo & Schotia

The day begins with a morning safari in Addo Elephant National Park, where besides elephants you can see lions, buffalo, zebras, antelope, rhinos and many other wild animals. This elephant park is the largest game park in the Eastern Cape and was founded in 1931 to protect the last 11 surviving elephants of the region.

In the afternoon in Schotia Park we experience a guided safari game drive. This safari park is home to various big game, including giraffes, wildebeest, hippos, antelope and a particularly large number of lions.

The day ends with a traditional dinner in a boma (open-air restaurant) under the clear African starry sky. Afterwards it is not far to our accommodation at Addo Park.

Overnight stay again in the same 4* lodge at Addo Elephant Park

Day 15 | Addo – Plettenberg Bay

We say goodbye to the wild animals with a last morning safari through Addo Elephant Park and drive to Plettenberg Bay in the morning.

In Tsitsikamma National Park we climb across the Storms River suspension bridge and in Nature Valley we enjoy the dreamlike view and a short walk on its wonderful beach.

Having arrived in Plettenberg Bay we drive to our accommodation. For dinner we visit one of the first-class restaurants in Plettenberg Bay.

Overnight stay in a 4* guesthouse in Plettenberg Bay

Day 16 | Plettenberg Bay – Hermanus

From Plettenberg Bay we set off for Hermanus. The route leads via Mossel Bay and Swellendam.

Having arrived in Hermanus, a hike/walk along the coast is recommended, where from the cliffs you have a great view of Walker Bay. Hermanus is well known as one of the best places in the world for whale watching.

Every year between July and November the giants, weighing up to 60 tonnes, sometimes come as close as 20 m to the shore. But even when it is not whale season, this place is worth the trip.

We head for our accommodation, which is right on the sea. In the evening we eat in a great restaurant in Hermanus.

Overnight stay in a 4* guesthouse right on the beach in Hermanus

Day 17 | Hermanus – Stellenbosch

If it is currently whale season, on request we take a whale-watching boat trip to get especially close to the whales. Afterwards we set off for Stellenbosch.

If time allows, we will visit the Hemel & Aarde wine region just beyond Hermanus for a wine tasting.

Afterwards we drive along False Bay on a beautiful coastal road via Betty’s Bay, Pringle Bay and Rooi Els to Gordon’s Bay. From here it is not far to Stellenbosch.

4* accommodation in the vineyards outside Stellenbosch

Day 18 | Franschhoek & Stellenbosch wine valley

Today you enjoy your day with tastings of award-winning wines at beautifully located wine estates. First we drive over magnificent mountain passes through the vineyards to Franschhoek.

Cape Governor Simon van der Stel gave this region to Huguenot families who had had to flee France. The “Fransch” then founded Franschhoek, which even today is reminiscent of a Provençal village.

After a short stroll we taste the first-class wines of the La Motte or Grande Provence wine estate. On our way to Stellenbosch we visit the architecturally striking Delaire wine estate. It is beautifully situated between Stellenbosch and Franschhoek on the highest peak of the Helshoogte Pass.

Now the university town and second-oldest town in South Africa, Stellenbosch, with its many listed buildings and nice lanes, invites us to a little stroll.

On our way back we stop at the Waterford wine estate. It is built in Mediterranean style and surrounded by the scent of its mandarin trees and lavender bushes. Here, at the end of our tour, we take part in a wine and chocolate tasting.

After this fulfilling day in the vineyards we take you back to your accommodation.

Overnight stay + breakfast again in the same 4* accommodation in Stellenbosch

Day 19 | One day at your own disposal in Stellenbosch

Day 20 | Journey home
