Day 1 | Arrival in Windhoek – drive to Klein Barmen

We will welcome you at Windhoek airport and set off for the beautiful Klein Barmen farm near Okahandja.

In the late afternoon we experience our first game drive across the expanse of the Klein Barmen farm. We will be surprised by which wild animals we spot today. By sunset we are back at the lodge.

In the evening a barbecue is prepared for you. You are the only guests and will be thoroughly pampered.

Overnight stay & full board at Klein Barmen farm

Day 2 | A day at Klein Barmen

Early in the morning we go on a game drive across the 8,000-hectare farm. At sunrise there is a picnic along the way with hot coffee and tea. We spot springbok, zebras, giraffes and much more.

Back at the guesthouse a hearty breakfast/brunch is served. Hours to relax by the pool or to bathe in the “hot springs”, the natural hot springs.

In the late afternoon we go on another game drive. Along the way we enjoy the sunset in the middle of the wilderness with a glass of wine. In the evening the farm’s own game meat is grilled. The peace and the nature on this farm will delight you.

Overnight stay & full board again at this farm

Day 3 | Klein Barmen – 5* nature reserve

After a last early-morning game drive on the farm we set off for the beautiful 5* lodge in the private nature reserve. This family-run lodge lies at the foot of the Omboroko sandstone mountains.

This nature reserve is famous for the AfriCat Foundation. Since its founding in 1991, AfriCat’s mission has been to make a significant contribution to conservation while securing the survival of Namibia’s predators in their natural habitat. Research and environmental education projects are also carried out here.

In true African style the day ends with a game drive through the acacia thicket in search of leopards, brown hyenas and pangolins, followed by a sundowner.

Overnight stay & half board in the Plains Camp of the 5* lodge in the nature reserve

Day 4 | …… to Etosha

We set off for Etosha. In the afternoon we reach the Etosha Pan. Etosha National Park is probably the best-known national park in northern Namibia and the country’s most important wildlife reserve.

The park lies on the north-western edge of the Kalahari Basin and covers almost the whole Etosha Pan. The name “Etosha” comes from Oshivambo and means something like “great white place”.

For a stay in Etosha you should allow at least 2 full days. Here we stay on the eastern side of Etosha National Park.

Overnight stay & half board in the camp of the 4* game lodge in/at Etosha

Day 5 | Another day in Etosha National Park

Another full day of exciting forays into the African landscape. A magnificent and varied wildlife awaits you, such as elephants, black rhinos, hyenas, antelope, lions, cheetahs as well as zebras, vultures, giraffes and other wildlife.

Of the Big Five only the buffalo are missing.

Game drives in Etosha take place in our own tour vehicle. Optionally, game drives run by the lodge can also be booked (at your own expense).

Overnight stay & half board again in the same game lodge

Day 6 | Etosha – Bushmen camp

We say goodbye to the wild animals of Etosha and continue east towards Grootfontein. Our next stop is the Bushman’s Camp.

It lies on a Kalahari dune in the middle of the bush. The Fiume Bush Camp takes you back to the time of the San Bushmen. On a half-day trip with the Bushmen you will experience the life, culture and tribal customs of the San at first hand.

Overnight stay & full board in the authentic Bushman’s Camp

Days 7 + 8 | Grootfontein – Caprivi

Today we travel along the Caprivi Strip to our next accommodation. In the afternoon we reach Rundu, the gateway to the Caprivi.

Rundu is a town and economic centre in north-eastern Namibia. It is the second-largest town in Namibia and lies on an attractive rise on the south bank of the Okavango in the otherwise flat foothills of the northern Kalahari Basin.

Then we continue to our lodge on the Okavango River. This lodge lies right on the Okavango, opposite Angola.

In the evening we take a sunset cruise on the Okavango River and let the day end with a beautiful sunset. For dinner we sit on the terrace of the lodge’s own restaurant and enjoy the culinary variety.

Two nights’ stay & half board in the 4* river lodge

Days 9 & 10 | Rundu – Caprivi Strip / Okavango resort

We continue north-east onto the Caprivi Strip. This narrow strip in north-eastern Namibia is the country’s wettest area. The region is bordered by the Okavango, Kwando and Zambezi rivers.

This ensures a high wildlife population. Elephants are particularly numerous, although in the dense vegetation you do not always get to see them.

The next two days at the resort & spa, stylishly integrated on the bank of the Okavango River. The luxurious air-conditioned chalets with large terraces offer the best view of the wonderful wildlife.

The roar of the Popa Falls, only 1 km away, provides a natural background soundtrack. We visit Mahango Game Reserve. This park is much smaller than Etosha and ideal for a short visit.

Elephants, buffalo, lions and leopards are very present in the park and easy to spot. We also visit the Popa Falls. They are not the biggest in Namibia, but offer a breathtaking backdrop.

The excursions take place in our own tour vehicle. Optionally, a boat trip and game drives run by the lodge can be booked (at your own expense). The Popa Falls can also be seen from the island where the boat trip stops for the sundowner.

Overnight stay & half board at the resort & spa on the Okavango

Day 11 | Caprivi Strip – Kongola

After these eventful days we continue to the eastern end of the Caprivi Strip. Our river lodge lies on the Kwando River and is an ideal stop on the way to Victoria Falls.

In the evening we take a boat excursion. Here we can see elephants, hippos, buffalo, sable antelope and colourful, shimmering birdlife.

Later, in the evening glow with a cool drink on the sundowner deck, we listen to the deep grunting of the hippos.

Overnight stay & half board at the lodge on the Kwando River

Day 12 | Kongola – Chobe / Botswana

Today we leave Namibia and cross the border into Botswana. Our accommodation for the next three days is in the famous national park of the same name in Botswana.

The lodge on the bank of the Chobe River offers access to the natural wonders of this breathtaking landscape as well as to the famous Victoria Falls.

We experience exciting game drives on which trained rangers introduce you to the secrets of the local fauna & flora. We discover lions, leopards, elephants and buffalo as well as numerous other bush inhabitants.

Or we experience the exciting landscape from a completely new perspective on a boat safari.

Overnight stay & half board in a safari lodge on the Chobe River

Days 13 & 14 | Chobe & Victoria Falls

Two more days on the Chobe River and in Chobe National Park. We cross the border into Zimbabwe and drive to Victoria Falls – the widest waterfalls in the world.

On the Zimbabwe side of Victoria Falls we have a fantastic starting point. Here the falls drop up to 100 m.

On a walk along the falls you see how the wide basalt cliff turns the peaceful Zambezi into a raging torrent – a unique experience.

Across a width of almost 1,708 m the mighty masses of Zambezi water plunge into the depths. As the water hits the almost 50 m wide gorge, a kind of spray or mist is created that rises up to 500 m. The locals call the falls “Mosi-oa-Tunya” – translated “the smoke that thunders”.

In between you can relax at the lodge, for example by the beautiful large pool, with a drink at the cocktail bar or even in the lodge’s own spa. We enjoy the evening with dinner under the African night sky.

Two more nights’ stay & half board again in the safari game lodge in/at Chobe
