We pick you up from your accommodation and start the Cape Town city tour with you. First we take the cable car up Table Mountain. From the 1,086 m high mountain there is a fantastic view of Cape Town and the Cape Peninsula.
Then it's on to the alternative district of Woodstock. In the former working-class and industrial area, artists have set up their studios, and designers, cabinet-makers and decorators also create their unique pieces there.
Next we drive through many small streets to the historic District Six. Around 1966 the government declared this district a “white zone”, allegedly because too much crime emanated from the neighbourhood, and in 1968 ordered the forced removal of its Black and Coloured residents. The district was completely cleared and the houses demolished. You will be surprised how it has changed.
Via the government district we continue to Bo-Kaap. In the former residential quarter of slaves from Malaysia and Java, the noisy, cheerful, cosmopolitan heart of Cape Town beats. Here the houses glow in the brightest colours.
Now our city tour leads through Tamboerskloof with its typically Victorian architecture to your accommodation or to the Waterfront. Perhaps you will spend the late afternoon/evening at the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, a part of Cape Town’s harbour that has been transformed into an extensive entertainment and shopping district with numerous restaurants, bars, live-music venues and attractive shops. It is then a good idea to take a catamaran boat trip, but in any case to end the evening in one of the great restaurants on the Waterfront.
